Hardy Biennial

They should be grown in every home garden for ornamental and border effect. Invaluable for aromatic, medicinal and flavoring purposes. Caraway has been grown for thousands of years for the licorice like flavor of its seeds. It can be used to flavor pies, cakes, cookies and breads.

Young leaves are sometimes used in soups. Harvest seeds, usually in August. The thick tapering roots similar to parsnips, are considered a delicacy for the table.

Planting time - Early spring to mid-fall.

Germinates in - 14 to 18 days

Sowing Depth - 1/8 inch

Row spacing - 12 inches

Seed spacing - 1/2 inch

Thinning - when plants are 2 inches tall thin to 12 inches apart.
