Lavender should be grown in every home garden for ornamental and border effect. it is not an edible herb, being used only for scenting purposes.
To dry for use, gather on a dry day in summer when flowers on plants are fully opened. Place in a cool shed or room. Place flower spikes on frames of stretched cheesecloth or netting for air circulation. When dry, remove flowers from stems and seal in wide mouth bottles.
Planting time - Early spring or indoors 4-6 weeks earlier.
